Exclusive EXILE Video and Download only on The Sounds of VTech
[…]First up in our “Where do you wanna go?” series is music producer, EXILE. Exile also known as Aleksander Manfredi is an American hip hop DJ, producer and occasional rapper. He’s worked with Aloe Blacc as a member of Emanon, Blu, and has guest produced on work with artists including Mobb Deep, Ghostface Killah, Kardinal Offishall and Jurassic 5. Our friends from MOCHILLA spent the day at Exile’s Los Angeles home where he plugged up the radio and on the fly, proceeded to make a beat from various radio stations he came across while surfing random Internet stations. Dam-Funk’s Toeachizown coming in Fall | Stones Throw Records
sweet album design…
Photo: Eric Coleman, Design: Jeff Jank, Logo: Caeous
From Dam-Funk himself: “LAtrik is more of my ‘electric style’ (hence the title of this volume) which is influenced by, yet never bitin’, such great artist as Juan Atkins (Cybotron) & Prince to name just a few. It also highlights the more Modern sounds of L.A. based Funk right now with instrumentals like ‘Toeachizown’ & vocal tracks like ‘Mirrors’ which, I feel are distinctly my sound, humbly speaking. I hope U dig it, as this was made 4 U! Stay tuned 4 Volumes: 2. 3, 4, & 5. - D-F”

Earl Palmer: 1924 – 2008 (Video by B+) (via Vimeo)
Certified Fresh just posted something on Mitch Mitchell passing away the other day, so I thought I’d shed light on another influential drummer that passed last September. I’ll let ya’ll read up on him on you’re own time, I just want you to listen how B+ used Earl Palmer’s track from the Holy Thursday / Songs of Innocence session to accentuate how his sound defined David Axelrod’s music (as well as others). His work on this track is forever hair raising. RIP my man.
