Badu will be talking (live from her Dallas studio) about headlining opening night of the Bermuda Music Festival, celebrating “Quincy Jones and Friends,” Quincy’s influence on her, and her upcoming album. Quincy Jones and Friends will be going down in Bermuda from October 29th-31st with a lineup that includes: Patti Austin, James Ingram, Wyclef Jean, John Legend, Michael McDonald, Kenny Rogers, Naturally 7, and a World Orchestra led by musical director Greg Phillinganes.

Mos Def is set to launch a tour of North America kicking off August 1 in Minneapolis, MN. THE ECSTATIC TOUR celebrates Mos Def’s album The Ecstatic, just released on June 9 via Downtown Records to critical acclaim. The tour makes stops throughout many U.S. and Canadian cities including Chicago, Washington D.C., Miami, Calgary, Vancouver and Portland. I have a feeling there’s gonna be a lot of Jay Elect. leaking over the next few weeks. I’ve been anxious to hear what he’s got in store for the listeners out there. I still think the two testimonials (Erykah Badu and Just Blaze) he had on his “Eternal Sunshine” track should be enough for the hungry fans out there peaking to some level of anticipation. Whitewash World Premiere: Music By The Roots, E Badu (via OKP)
“This past Saturday in Salt Lake City, Utah a film debuted at the X Dance action sports film festival called Whitewash, directed by Ted Woods. Although you may not have heard of it yet, Whitewash, the documentary, is a film exploring the complexity of race in America through the struggle and triumph of the history of black surfers. It is narrated by Ben Harper and Black Thought, and tells the story through the eyes of black surfers and historians from Hawaii, Jamaica, Florida, and California. The film is being scored by The Roots, with music from Erykah Badu as well. Let’s hope it hits the big theaters soon so we can all catch a glimpse of this historic exploration of race, identity, and surfing culture.”
